john_winnie_home_2CARES is making great strides...

For 25 years, The Committee to Aid Research to End Schizophrenia (CARES) has been dedicated to supporting scientific research in the hope of eradicating this disease as well as finding better treatments.

CARES also strives to promote public education and awareness in the hope of eliminating the stigma that surrounds schizophrenia, stigma that impacts all those who suffer from the disease and their families.

CARES milestones include:

  • Raising over $250,000 to support schizophrenia research
  • Sponsoring over a dozen junior investigators in their efforts to improve our knowledge and treatment of schizophrenia
  • Promoting schizophrenia awareness through educational events at local churches, malls and other public venues
  • Fighting stigma through a letter campaign targeting media outlets that portray people with schizophrenia in ways that are insensitive or inaccurate
